SUMMARY:John Bramwell (I AM KLOOT)
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nJohn Bramwell has spent decades quietly becoming one of Britain’s most treasured songwriters. As the unmistakable voice behind Manchester cult favourites I Am Kloot\, Bramwell helped craft a catalogue of bruised\, beautiful songs that earned a fiercely devoted following and a Mercury Prize nomination for the band’s acclaimed 2010 album Sky at Night. (Wikipedia) \nWhether delivering razor-sharp one-liners or heartbreaking reflections\, Bramwell’s songwriting has always balanced humour\, melancholy and hard-won tenderness in equal measure. From early classics like “Proof”\, “Over My Shoulder” and “From Your Favourite Sky” through to more recent solo material\, his songs remain some of the most affecting to emerge from the North of England in the last two decades. (Wikipedia) \nLive\, Bramwell is a master storyteller — switching effortlessly between devastating intimacy\, offbeat wit and singalong catharsis. Armed with little more than an acoustic guitar and that unmistakable voice\, his solo performances strip the songs back to their emotional core while allowing his warmth and humour to shine through. Recent solo shows have been praised for their heartfelt atmosphere\, playful banter and spellbinding connection with audiences. (themet.org.uk) \nPop Recs is delighted to welcome John Bramwell for a very special solo performance on Saturday 24th October. \nFully seated show – Wheelchair Accessible – All Ages

SUMMARY:Railcard + support (Matinee Show)
DESCRIPTION:TICKETS \nIndie-Pop Royalty Railcard Announce Pop Recs Matinee! \nIndie-pop icons Railcard perform a special trio matinee at Pop Recs on 8th Nov! Featuring Rachel Love (Dolly Mixture)\, Ian Button (Death In Vegas\, Heavenly)\, and Allison Thomson (Trashcan Sinatras)\, the Skep Wax / Slumberland group brings jangling guitars\, sweet strings\, and cool trumpet. Expect witty\, joyful tunes on growing older\, train travel\, and smart love stories. Don’t miss out! \nBio \nRailcard formed in early 2025 when Rachel Love\, Ian Button and Peter Momtchiloff realised they\nwere all born within weeks of each other and joked that this was an excellent reason to form a\nnew band together: shared history\, the same pop references\, parallel lives…\nThe idea might have remained just that – but Rachel and Ian began writing songs together\, Peter\nadded his own into the list\, and by the time the band made their live debut in December 2025\nthey had recruited their fourth member Allison Thomson and recorded two albums’ worth of\nmaterial. Skep Wax Records in the UK and Slumberland in the US gave them a home straight\naway. \nRachel Love (vocals\, guitar\, cello) started playing\, writing and singing as a teenager in post punk/\npop band Dolly Mixture – who are cited as one of the major influences on modern indie pop\, riot\ngrrl etc – and in more recent years began a solo career with two acclaimed albums\, and\ncollaborations with Martin Newell\, Exploding Flowers and more.\nIan Button (vocals\, drums) had a 20 year career as a guitarist\, first with Thrashing Doves\, then\nDeath In Vegas\, before switching to drumming\, production\, and writing for his own long-running\nproject Papernut Cambridge. Ian is the drummer in the current lineup of Heavenly.\nPeter Momtchiloff (bass) was a founder member of Talulah Gosh and Heavenly\, and since 1999\nhas been a member of the Would-be-goods\, as well as more recently releasing material of his own\nas Tufthunter. \nAllison Thomson (trumpet\, keys) formed her first teenage band The Sherbet Fountains in 1980s\nKilmarnock. In her music career since she has played for the Trashcan Sinatras\, Heist\, and The\nOrchids\, run a music school and studio in France\, and recently guested on trumpet with The Love\nBand. \nRailcard’s individual musical DNA is easy to trace in the music – the Rachel and Ian’s songs mix\nup ingredients from their earlier projects\, and Peter’s bear his hallmarks too.\nTheir sound blends together shared lead vocals from Rachel and Ian\, jangling guitars\, sweet\nstrings\, organ and cool/oblique trumpet lines from Allison\, plus a drive and punch from Peter and\nIan’s rhythm section that steers into Motown\, bubblegum pop/garage and more.\nTheir songs celebrate getting older\, but playfully dismiss nostalgia. There’s fun\, friendship\, kitchen\nsink adventure\, smart love songs\, and of course\, songs about train travel.
