POP RECS CIC
HUNGER • MELODY • DECENCY
172 – 175 High St West • Sunderland • SR1 1UP
An independent music and arts venue and cafe located in the vibrant Sunniside quarter, Sunderland.
Pop Recs is a Community Interest Company based in the heart of Sunderland. Founded in 2013, as a ‘pop up shop’ it quickly became an arts, cultural and social space. We occupied various locations across the city before moving to our current home at High Street West, Sunniside in November 2021.
Founded by indie-pop heartthrobs Frankie & The Heartstrings to launch their second album, The Days Run Away, Pop Recs has gone on to become an integral part of the grassroots arts scene in the region, hosting everything from gigs, photography and art exhibitions, DJ nights, independent cinema experiences, spoken word evenings and weekly Stitch n Bitch meets.
Pop Recs is driven by an overarching principle to enrich the lives of the people living in its community. We strive to meet this goal by engaging our community through music, art and culture..
Pop Recs celebrates and embodies inclusion, diversity and culture.

WE NEED YOU!
This is an experiment. We are inviting YOU, our Pop Recs community to submit work for our upcoming POP CULTURE “CROWD SOURCED” exhibition. We are looking for high quality framed memorabilia to adorn the walls of our venue and cafe for our next exhibition.
